If only there was some way of :ahem: ‘avoiding’ taxes by donating to wildlife conservation charities….
I gather from a tweet that Labour is scornful that Plaid Cymru donors are ordinary working people!
I must admit I whole heartedly agree with the sentiments expressed in this cartoon – Ya-Boo politics. I am so glad to have an alternative to vote for……
Perhaps politicians should have their salaries and expenses linked somehow to proportion of turn out on which they were elected? Poor turn out in safe seat areas would see a financial saving, given there are c.120 marginal seats then perhaps around 530 could offer real savings? Of the 850 unelected and reported to be growing, a seriously effective cull of say 50% 2015, a further 10% of remaining over the following five years?
Said more in gest than any realist hope of reform or accountability but something needs to happen?
We might even consider spending 50% of savings on an independent environmental conservation watchdog (no not a reformed old guard or project management takeover, but fresh blood)?
Interesting cartoon…
Presumably Mark, given your posting of the cartoon, you wouldn’t wish to vote for either the “blue” or “red” party?
