  1. Having had a first read through, should we expect The RSPB to now fully support the move to ban driven grouse shooting? It seems it would still be quite a jump from where they are even now to get to that place, but it seems they are asking for more restrictions and monitoring to be put in place when in fact the laws are already there but are merely ignored.

I’m pleased they have taken this step, hopefully the weight of the membership can now truly get behind a cause that they believe and really fight for change.

I’m interested to see whether the petition figures take a dramatic leap forward with this announcement. Only need about I guess 7% of the membership to sign it and then the government will have to at least draft a new answer to the questions.

Perhaps we are seeing a turning point with shooting licences being revoked and now this statement. it does feel as though the momentum is gathering speed.

  2. RSPB are still living under the illusion that grouse moor owners are responsible caring human being and not totally motivated by money.
Why do RSPB keep repeating “We believe that that reform to protect the hen harrier will only come through licensing of driven grouse shooting”.
Grouse moors and their owners managers and keepers will ignore licensing and at present it cannot and will not be policed properly.
So what would change with licensing bring. None!!!!
RSPB and other NGO’s must now put pressure on our UK government to ‘Totally ban’ all ‘Driven Grouse Shooting’, this coupled with severe prison sentences and vicarious liability is the only way to stop these mindless uncaring morons from killing Hen Harriers so they can shoot more grouse, just for fun…

  3. RSPB will I hope now ask their members to support and sign Mark Avery’s petition to ‘Ban Driven Grouse Shooting’….

  4. If the RSPB begins to get even 10% of it’s membership to support a complete ban on driven grouse shooting we will take a major leap forward towards getting this vile activity banned once and for all. Well done RSPB. About time too.

  5. Thank you RSPB now all members can sign petition and get rid of this cruel, harmful, unnecessary past time.
