A few goals for 20 September

epet

Our rather successful e-petition to ban driven grouse shooting runs until midnight (I think) on 20 September.  Every signature is valuable in showing MPs and the world that this is an issue that requires urgent attention.

I’d be very pleased if the total approached 125,000 at the end – there will be another significant milestone passed if it does. But I’m not predicting that it will although I do know that many of you are delivering leaflets this weekend and that will surely make a difference.

On the way it would be fun if some of the following constituencies passed the following milestones:

Ross, Skye and Lochaber 500 – it’s on 496 now

Bristol West 500 – it’s on 490 now

Argyll and Bute 400 – it’s on 387 now

Lancaster and Fleetwood 400 – it’s on 386 now

Stroud, Ribble Valley and Isle of Wight 400 – they are between 386 and 388 now

Moray, West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine, Perth and North Perthshire, Ochil and South Perthshire and Stirling 300 – all between 276 and 297

Ceredigion 300 – it’s on 299 now

Truro and Falmoouth,  Ludlow, North Wiltshire, North Somerset, South East Cambridgeshire, Colne Valley, Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweedale  and Lewes 300 – all between 285 and 299 now

Harborough, Amber Valley, Hertford and Stortford, Braintree and Mid Bedfordshire 200 – they are between 193 and 199 now

Copeland 200 – it’s on 196 now

Bolsover 200 – it’s on 191 now

Brent North 40 – it’s on 38 now

Edmonton 36 – it’s on 35 now and has stubbornly been at the bottom of the list for quite a while

And talking of milestones, thank you to Belfast South for being the first Northern Ireland Constituency to pass 100 signatures (125 now).

    1. Richard – I can’t work that out yet – tell me why when we get there or on 21 September please!

      1. Well Mark it’s not a palindrome but it is a prime number but that’s not the reason!

  1. Watford has been stuck on 195 for quite a few days now. I hope it gets to 200 before the deadline

  2. Is there any way of copying leaflets from, for instance, a PDF and printing them off (on a decent printer)?

  3. Today’s word: crony
The Ribble and Calder Valleys are of like mind, sharing today’s top signing honors with 5 apiece.

    The day ended on: 118,380
    Today’s signatures: 157

    This week
    27th: 131
    28th: 157
    Week’s total so far: 288

By comparison: tuther petition gained 136 signatures today.

I see that Sheffield Central has no target, Mark. Good, good, simply ‘more’, hopefully prefixed with ‘lots’, will do for us! Moving up the table looks a challenge, mind.

    23 days to go.

    1. I doubt the other petition will ever get the publicity (even then the actions of the shooting community have tended to get more signatures for us) or big, big surge in signatures we’ve had, but obviously would be good if we had as big a gap in numbers between them as possible. Did the Green Party south of the border contact its members directly to ask them to sign? If not still time. Thanks for all your number crunching Jim, inspite of all the seriousness re the issue and the anger at the intransigence and lies of the opposition the petition has also been great fun hasn’t it?

  4. Lovely afternoon here in Edinburgh but I think I will take my remaining leaflets back to Islington South on Wednesday. We were ahead of Islington North for quite a while but the Momentum HH faction must have been out on the streets there. It’s time for the Ottolenghi meringue-munching mob to strike back.
