Oscar writes: This is another one taken on the marsh at El Rocío. I’d been hoping to get a chance to photograph some of the Spoonbills that were feeding in the middle of the marsh, and had noticed that in the evenings they often fed near the edge where I could sit and wait. So, on our last evening I sat down at the edge of the marsh, watching as they gradually got closer towards me. Eventually they got within range for some photos, but unfortunately it wasn’t for long, as they all flew back out to the middle of the marsh.

Mark writes: I wonder whether I saw that very bird in that very place a few weeks after you were there Oscar. It’s a great place – and you have taken a lovely image.
While we are on Spoonbills, the Fairburn Ings Spoonbills fledged three young, and since there is another pair of adults present, there are now seven Spoonbills flying around the RSPB nature reserve in the Aire Valley.
I also hear that Spoonbills have bred in the Humber area: they have been seen all summer at various sites and now there is a just-fledged youngster around too!
The Spoonbills are coming!
