Local – bird records

This is just a short addendum to my blogs on a local planning matter which would involve building 10 intensive broiler houses on farmland about six miles from where I live (see my blogs here, here and here) and Tim Reed’s guest blog which was on the more general issues surrounding the quality of data available to inform these decisions.

I sent this to East Northants Council the other day.

This is a short additional comment with information which adds to that in my previous OBJECTION.

On a visit to the area last week, Thursday 19 October, I saw an additional three species of bird on the farmland immediately adjacent to the proposed site. These were Pheasant and Green Woodpecker (green list species) and Grey Partridge (red list species).

The presence of Grey Partridge in this area confirms my previous contention that the farmland in this area is of above average value for farmland birds and that the biodiversity survey carried out by the consultants employed by the developer was pretty much worthless.

  1. Hi Mark

We often walk along the bridleway that goes from Newton Bromswold to Knotting. We have seen Goldfinch, Linnet, Greenfinch, Buzzard, Sparrowhawk and various warblers. Other species seen include Yellow Rattle and recently at least 6 Brown Hare.
