I wrote about this film back in May 2016 when I saw it at The Barbican. Quite a lot of it has stuck in my mind ever since. And now it is going on tour in the UK to: Nottingham tomorrow Sat 28 Oct, Oswestry Tues 31 Oct, Liverpool Sun 26 Nov, Aldeburgh Sun 3 Dec, Manchester 29 Dec. And if you live in Wareham you’ve missed it – it was on yesterday evening.
I can remember how the film started and for a few minutes I thought that it seemed an odd place to begin and not very relevant to the UK/European situation, but we soon moved past that point and the film raises a lot of issues which are entirely relevant to our birds, our countryside and our issues.
There are some stunningly beautiful images of birds, including some very memorable ones of birds flying in wind tunnels. I doubt you have ever seen anything much like them. Here’s a taster.
Here’s the film’s website (click here) and don’t be put off by their facebook address https://www.facebook.com/SongbirdSOSfilm/ they are nothing to do with that strange lot at Songbird Survival.
I’m glad I’ve seen this film and if it were on a little closer to home then I’d probably go and see it again. So, I recommend it.
There is a video available too.
