Forest of Bowland AONB, get a new logo! Or even better, use your good offices to help the Hen Harrier, the bird featured on your signs (see above), to recover in numbers in your patch.
In a recent online poll I asked readers of this blog which of three logos they thought were most appropriate for the Forest of Bowland AONB: the existing one; the existing one rather altered with the Hen Harrier crossed out, a comment on the birdlessness of the area and a commentary on Natural England’s failure to protect the part of the Forest of Bowland AONB which is also the Bowland Fells Special Protection Area for Birds; and the existing one with a Dodo added.
The results were as follows:
Yes, your existing logo got <4% of the vote! This is the preferred new logo with a resounding 60% of the popular vote:
Can you please let me know when you plan to introduce the change? Maybe Natural England will chip in to the cost of changing the signage (Yuk! Ghastly word but I think that is what signs are now widely called) as they get a massive plug in the new logo too.
Or, rather than change your logo, why not act? Why not bring people together to put a spotlight on wildlife crime in your patch? Shouldn’t that be one of the priorities for your new 5-year management plan?

Mark, I live just a few miles from Bowland. I’m not sure if it is a reaction to your poll, but the sign into Bowland AONB from Longridge Fell (approaching from the south) has been taken down! Watch this space – literally.
Phil – how interesting!
