The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.

  1. Presumably he would be opposed(?) to the hindu nationalists killing cow farmers though. (BBC news website.) Shows you can have too reverent an attitude to some animals. (I’m entirely on the side of this blog about DGS, killing gulls, raptors, other predators though. Please don’t mis-understand.)

    1. I don’t think one ‘can have too reverent an attitude to some animals’ – one can respect them all, and not kill human animals.

  2. What a great quote from a great man and so true. It must put the UK well down the ladder if not at the bottom.

  3. What a great man of peace and wisdom . I wish he was around to visit the Angus Glens and see the destruction and mismanagement of this lovely part of Scotland .I am sure he would chide the keepers for their insensitive approach and lack of empathy to their surroundings. They claim to be guardians of the countryside but I wonder if Gandhi asked them what they killed as” vermin control” if they would be embarrassed by reflecting on the numbers and variety of species that they wipe off the face of the earth to satisfy their paymasters. Guardians ?? Dream on .
