I am rather worried about the number of fire engines that get their hoses stuck in floods

Not sure how you get from floods to leaf blowers, but yes, agreed, they must be very near the top of the most useless inventions ever.

Did the peregrine reappear as well?
My father in law drove through a flooded road in Scotland a few years back and ruined his engine when water got in via the exhaust. An expensive mistake!
