  1. I think the point about climate change campaigning being a diversion is absolutely spot on. Thirty years ago I was a member of what should have been a pioneering kerbside recycling scheme, part of a movement that would see disposable razors become museum exhibits no less. Well it’s been years since CC became THE issue and waste reduction along with others fell away into the shadows. I just found out that a ‘waste’ to energy incinerator is being proposed less than a mile from me that could burn up to 150,000 tonnes of rubbish a year. It’s supposed to be non recyclable material, but is that because it was not source separated for recycling then scrunched together in a compactor truck by any chance thereby facilitating a case for incineration? This is why I don’t punch the air in delight whenever I hear a council has declared a ‘climate emergency’, it’s a bit of a gimmick and pretty meaningless in relation to what’s happening or not happening on the ground. Seeing bottled water sales finally start declining would be far more meaningful.

  2. i’m a few bricks short of a load re the penultimate beatitude.
Anyway: Blessed are the builders who build affordable housing everywhere it’s needed …
