Another birdwatch, up to 0730 takes the list from 7 to 21 species.
All of the species below are regulars except for the early watch’s garden lifer Gadwall and the sighting of a single Greylag Goose (3rd ever record).
- Blackbird
- Gadwall
- Robin
- Dunnock
- Wren
- Woodpigeon
- Jackdaw
- Collared Dove
- Greenfinch
- Goldfinch
- Starling
- Greylag Goose
- Rook
- House Sparrow
- Blue Tit
- Song Thrush
- Lesser Black-backed Gull
- Great Tit
- Black-headed Gull
- Stock Dove
- Magpie
21 species so far – pretty good. There are four more species that I would expect to see and then I’ll be relying on irregulars to add to the list. I’ll tell you what they are next time around.
I’m doing this birdwatch partly to publicise the fundraising of the Champions of the Flyway event which is raising money for the conservation of Steppe Eagles – if you’d like to contribute then you can here.

Rook and Stock Dove would be absolute megas where I am!
Tim – Rooks keep going back and forth between their rookery (about a mile away) and some farmland (less than a mile the other way). I think the Stock Doves are in a small row of pines in some older gardens -they are more in evidence this yer than usual. I really like Stock Doves – https://markavery.info/2014/04/11/unfairly-uk-bird/
