Wild Hacking? Still no news.

Local residents have not yet been told whether SNH is going to license wild hacking of Gyr Falcons in Scotland this year. The report on last year’s events, which I have now read, admits the failings of the bird survey carried out last year (and highlighted on this blog back in December so it’s not exactly news!) and admits that the process causes local residents inconvenience and distress.

It is not clear whether proper bird surveys have been carried out this year – presumably not given the movement restrictions in Scotland – nor quite what remedies for locals SNH is considering.

But maybe it’s a bit too late to issue a licence for this year now…?
