Congratulations to Benedict Macdonald and Dara McAnulty for winning their categories of the Wainwright Prize.
Ben’s book, Rebirding, won the new category for global conservation.
Dara’s book, Diary of a Young Naturalist, won the category for UK nature writing.

Both fantastic books. I was surprised Rebirding was in the global category. The issue is global but the book is very much about rewilding in Britain. But at least this way the two standout books both won prizes.
Ian – I thought exactly the same.
Both excellent reads and well deserved. Well done both.
The only reason I haven’t read Dara’s book is that I didn’t know he’d written one. He wrote a book review which literally left my head spinning because it was a unique piece of work in a very wonderful way. Well done Dara!!!! And of course well done too Ben!! I get the feeling with Ben that he still doesn’t realise what a great book Rebirding is, it’s often the most talented and nicest people who have doubts about their own work and I hope Ben now fully realises what a phenomenal book he’s written.
As has Dara. And so much to come!
