Oh no he wasn’t …

There is an old expression about bird records from long ago, ‘What’s hit’s history, what’s missed, mystery‘ but it seems that even when you have a pile of bird bodies some can’t identify their quarry.

It was in 1977 that Lady Diana Spencer, then 16, was first introduced to a 29-year-old Prince Charles. Charles was attending a grouse shooting party at Althorp, the Spencer family home, as a guest of Diana’s eldest sister, Lady Sarah McCorquodale.

I’m shocked at The Tatler and will cancel my subscription forthwith. It’s a very long way to the nearest Red Grouse from Northants.

  1. ‘I remember thinking what a very jolly and amusing and attractive 16-year-old she was. I mean, great fun, and bouncy and full of life and everything.’

Imagine that quote today from Donald Trump. Or Prince Andrew for that matter…

    1. I have thought a little more about this and it is definitely inappropriate. All of you out there with daughters or step daughters, imagine her at 16 with a man of nearly 30 showing an interest in her. Would you feel comfortable about it, I know I certainly wouldn’t.

      1. Indeed, Paul.

And imagine that daughter being paraded around, rather like the abducted girl in the film Taken, but by a proud father, only too happy to auction her off like a farrowing sow to the highest bidder!

One can barely contain one’s national pride!
