Another good month for readership of this blog

Over 103,000 pageviews in October makes it the eighth month this year (and the seventh in a row) to top the wholly artificial 100,000 pageviews level. And with 24,000+ unique users (readers) this month that is very respectable too.

As hinted at a few weeks ago, despite some saying it will never happen, it is really very likely that when this blog reaches its tenth birthday in the spring, then it will be scaled back at least for the rest of 2021 to allow me time for other writing projects, and quite possibly permanently. But that is at lease five months away. I won’t mention it again for quite a while but that won’t mean that it isn’t happening.

  1. I ran a bird sighting blog for 12 years. There is always some point when the aims, ideas and willingness start to stagnate. I am not saying you are stagnating because what you have done and continue to do is fantastic. I can understand though where you are coming from. Well done for what you have achieved and I look forward to what will be forthcoming in the future. Best wishes, Bob.

  2. Mark, don’t believe you, what else will you have to do in forth or fife lockdown? May not always agree with you but enjoy reading and learning from your blog.

  3. It’s been an excellent source of information and a motivational resource for many, and whilst I can understand and appreciate the points you make I’m hopeful that whatever happens it will morph into something you enjoy and find useful as well as being inspirational to your followers.

If you ‘retire’ from inspirational campaigning will the charitable NGOs pick up the slack? Unlikely as a result of fear of ‘Gagging Act’. But, you’ve already addressed that through the founding of Wild Justice.

PS Book sales for many authors might well drop as a result of closure;)

  4. It’s wholly understandable that you are thinking of doing other things after 10 years, but what a loss it will be for us! And arguably for nature too.
