This is the propsed logo for the new county of North Northamptonshire from April next year. This is a modified version of one of the logos which was proposed back in the summer. I’m very happy with this and although this wouldn’t have been my preferred option it is an improved version of my second choice of the three that were proposed – so I feel pretty happy about it.
Because it was suggested to me back in the summer, I will always see that castle on the left as a massive pair of binoculars which will make me smile.
But we have a Red Kite! Until about 30 years ago, and going back for well over a century, it would have been ridiculous to have a Red Kite as a familiar, much-loved logo for a new county, but this bird is now common and well-recognised and liked in these parts. I’ve seen one over my garden today and another four or five on a short journey out to replenish victuals.

The red kite is nice, but it’s the HUGE pair of Swarovski bins over the hill that’s really impressive.
In Ceredigion ,where I used to live, the red kite (y barcud) seemed to be everyone’s logo including the local hospital.
I always thought that it was an odd choice ,a bird that mainly feeds on carrion.
excellent! Can it include an unmown verge and a clean river and clean air too? And no light pollution and no noise pollution? And large areas with all their native species present in full ecological balance? Glad about the kite though.
