The future of this blog

This blog is 9 years, 11 months and 1 day old. On 21 April it will undergo a significant downshift for at least six months.

From 22 April I will not normally post any material from Monday-Friday inclusive. At weekends I will post any guest blogs that have captured my attention and I will continue with book reviews on Sundays. If I really can’t restrain myself from writing a blog about something it will almost certainly appear at the weekend too.

As previously explained, this move is to allow me more time for myself, and more time for Wild Justice and the World Land Trust, and the time to finish writing a book.

  1. Good luck on this Mark. Wild Justice and The World Land Trust are so important, as too , I am sure, is your new book..We will of course very much miss your daily blog and do please publish any really significant news at the weekends. For example “they are banning driven grouse shooting nation wide”. Assuming your work load starts to ease a bit after six months then do resume your full time blog whenever you can.
Best of fortune with all your hard work for nature.

  2. Sensible. Sometimes less is more.

And there’s always The Twitter for urgent stuff.

  3. 10 years of doing a daily blog takes a lot of dedication and sacrifice, so you must be excited to eventually get some more quality ‘me’ time. It must have been an amazing journey from planting that tiny acorn and seeing it grow to a mighty mature Oak, from all of us who saw that growth I can only say thank you.

  4. Best of luck Mark. There’s a lot of people involved now but you and this blog really made everyone aware of the changes we need. For me it goes back further to Peak Malpractice. We need to challenge all parts of the Government and Wild Justice is doing a great job with that. Thank you.

  5. Where on earth am I going to spout after April 21st?!

Are you sure you’re not just timing this to accord loosely with the re-opening of pub gardens, Mark?

  6. Well done for many years of blogs. You have been unbelievably tolerant and productive.
Very few people could have managed your workload.
Whatever your followers think about wildlife we must all believe you have given your time for wildlifes benefit.

  7. An unbelievable effort over ten years Mark, quite outstanding.
You certainly deserve a break though I suspect you’ll end up just as busy……
    Thank you.

  8. Fully understand, Mark, but you will be missed! Enjoy your extra time – I hope you do find some, but still sounds a busy diary to me! Thank you for all your past blogs – this has been the go-to place for conservation issues for me, and greatly appreciated. You have made an enormous difference for wildlife. I look forward to your new book.
