Over the last decade this blog has featured the work of many artists who could be regarded as cartoonists.
Ralph Underhill: Ralph has contributed hundreds of cartoons for a regular Saturday morning slot – his last offering, and some words from him, will appear on this blog tomorrow morning. But here are a few to remind you:
I just loved this slightly modified version of NE’s logo – some people believed it was the actual thing! Ralph drew it when Andrew Sells, Tory donor and property developer, took over as Chair of NE.
Quite witty.
And then when Tony Juniper succeeded Andrew, some greenery was added to the emblem. Juniper, geddit?
When it came to driven grouse shooting Ralph came up with these two:
Paul Thomas: Paul is a professional cartoonist and birder who has worked for several proper newspapers. He produced a string of cartoons for this blog including a 56-cartoon series ‘An Unreliable History of Birdwatching’ which more or less led on to fame, fortune and this book.
Paul penned this cartoon which makes me smile whenever I see it in my dining room.
Jonnie Fisk: Jonnie, 18 at the time, produced a series of beautiful weekly cartoons back in 2013/14 – they were stunning.
Mr Carbo: Scotland-based Mr Carbo has his own style, and like all these cartoonists, his own perspective on life. Here’s the first of many, from October 2018.
