I see that some shoots actually breed mallards and release them specifically to be shot. That seems even worse than breeding pheasants and partridges for shooting somehow. Sick.
Yep, they even feed them. The birds are so tame they have to scare the hell out of them just to get them to fly so then they can be shot at!
A complete ban on the use of lead shot for all quarry species and all habitats is surely the only solution. As long as shooters can buy lead ammunition it would appear to be inevitable that it will continue to used illegally. A full ban on lead cannot come soon enough.
Looks from this that the majority of the wildfowl shooting industry is now a criminal enterprise, like Grouse shooting. Brings the day closer when a serious campaign to ban all game shooting kicks off. Perhaps they should have a word with themselves?
The shooting industry has turned wildfowling and game shooting into nothing more than target shooting with living creatures. I’ve seen almost domesticated ducks forced into the air to be shot at. If it happened on a local housing estate the public would be up in arms. Sick is indeed an appropriate word.
