Significant ‘temporary’ ban on Fin Whale hunting by Iceland

  1. Both links seem to direct towards the same article (the Sea Shepherd article).

    Two and a bit months of delay is better than nothing but hopefully by September they will have decided to make the closure permanent. I don’t imagine that that would make a vary big difference to the Icelandic economy but in any case that is beside the point: just because something is profitable does not make it morally acceptable.

  2. It would be good to think that this delay is just to give the Icelandic government some further time to consider an outright ban. We know so very much more about whales since our ancestors persecuted them for our profit; They experience love, responsibility and their own cultures. If we are to better ourselves, then what could be a better way to start than by leaving whales where they belong, in the sea?
