Get your Hen Harrier Day news here!

Hen-Harrier-Day-300pxThis new website is where you should go to find out about what is happening on Hen Harrier Day, 9 August 2015.

And if you are preparing an event yourself – and why not? – let the guys at Birders Against Wildlife Crime know and they’ll help advertise it for you.

You’ll see that an evening event is planned for Buxton on the 8 August this year – the Hen Harrier Day eve.  Tickets will go on sale fairly soon and are likely to go like hot cakes.

  1. Hey Mark I was interested in the story about the RSPB maybe selling off land bequeathed to them as building land for a 5 million + profit. I can look at it both ways tbh but was interested in your view given your anti economics stance.

    1. giles – I wouldn’t describe my views as anti economic. And I think I’d rather not comment on this particular case because I don’t know much about it (practically nothing actually!). The interesting thing is that it is an attack by YFTB who are funded by the British grouse industry. What has this case got to do with grouse shooting? Nothing at all unless I’ve missed something. So the motives of those making the attack appear rather uncharitable to me.

    2. Giles,

Given that it was in the Torygraph, that appear to be on a crusade at the moment to promote no-sensicle drivel against the RSPB and featured quotes from YFTB you can imagine that its a fairly whipped up non-story. What irritated me more than anything with that article was that it did not take the time to care about what the wishes of the deceased ladies family or executors of her will think (they may support the notion if it is likely to be developed around and could realise so much more else-where), or even local residents, instead going for another cheap blow at the RSPB courtesy of a tiny minority group backed by the British Grouse Industry (itself a tiny minority industry). YFTB’s contribution was irrelevant, why has Mr Gregory got such an interest in Cheshire all of a sudden other than to have a dig at the RSPB? A bit of trash journalism. If you are interested in a more balanced view go and ask the RSPB for their side.

      1. “If you are interested in a more balanced view go and ask the RSPB for their side.”. I like that one!
