Henry visits the Countryside Alliance

Tues 28 July Copy

The Countryside Alliance is full of real country people – like Sir Barnie White-Spunner (who ran for cover from the Lead Ammunition Group).

They didn’t seem to be in when we visited last week with the red London buses , black taxi cabs, and commuters in a traffic jam on the Kennington Road.  Maybe they’d all fled Vauxhall for the countryside?

The Countryside Alliance feature in Inglorious on pages 98, 124, 134-5, 136, 147, 148, 169, 184, 192, 213 and 230.

  1. Apologies Mark – my question isn’t strictly related to this post but tangenitally so… In your piece in today’s Independent, you say that you don’t oppose all field sports. I wondered if you might be able to explain which you don’t oppose and why (the converse would be interesting too if you have the time and energy).

    Thanks!

    1. Tom – thanks. Yes, I have the energy, but just now, not the time. I’ll try to blog about that in a while.

But the e-petition that I relaunched just over a week ago is very specific to grouse shooting, and indeed just driven grouse shooting – there’s a start!

  2. What a shame you didn’t actually knock on the door, rather than lurking on the porch. We don’t tend to work on the doorstep.
If you had knocked – depending on which day you visited – you would have met a large number of country people.
