Congratulations to Simon King and the Wildlife Trusts! And well done to all who helped this e-petition get over the 100,000 signature line.

It’s a pointless exercise and proved not to work
It would work if people had a more caring attitude to Badgers, and nature in general.
The contempt and disregard demonstrated by so called parliamentary democracy when “Ban Driven Grouse Shooting” was debated last year acted as a fantastic call to arms to continue the campaign against illegal raptor persecution and to address the mis-management of upland grouse moors against the public interest.
This petition will again raise the profile of a failed government department to address the real issues behind bTB. Defra have failed farmers and the public and they along with their ministers need to be held accountable for the excessive cost to the public purse?
Why is it that so many policies continue to fail to be evidence based?
What doesn’t work is doing nothing. If all any petition achieves is to promote conversation then it has worked. From conversation comes action. From action can come change. From nothing comes nothing.
What would you suggest instead?
Because sitting back and just letting the government not even listen to their own advisors is not much of an option really.
I posted the link to my facebook page and a known-to-me gamekeeper responded with “A will not sign cos its pants”.
I guess that says something about gamekeepers.
