Yesterday this blog passed another milestone – 8 million pageviews since 21 April 2011.
That first post was unexceptional, but one has to start somewhere, and its title, Don’t let them get away with it, might well have become a watchword for this blog. It took me couple of months before I got Google Analytics up and running so who knows how many people were reading posts in the first couple of months (when I was driving across the USA) and the first million pageviews took until 16 April 2014 when I blogged about cutting the grass and seeing a Flying Nose.
After that, the next few milestones were reached on the following dates with example blog posts on those days.
2 million pageviews – 11 August 2015, Hen Harrier Day 2015 (1)
3 million pageviews – 11 July 2016, M&S in a mess
4 million pageviews – 12 June 2017, The new Secretary of State for DEFRA
5 millions pageviews – 19 July 2018, Red Grouse in Iceland
6 million pageviews – 18 July 2019, PMQs, self-awareness, grouse shooting and this blog
7 million pageviews – 13 May 2020, My first BBS visit
8 million pageviews – yesterday.

Hearty slap on the back from me!
Well done and thank you.
It shows that your doing something right and people are interested and listening!
Great stuff Mark, I enjoy reading your blog almost every day.
Thank you Mark a great contribution to wildlife conservation.
And hopefully thousands(?) or tens of thousands of people influenced to care a lot more about all the non-human species on this planet and even to Stand up for Nature. Wonder if that number can be estimated?
