  1. My guess is 1 of 2 – Doncaster races (are you there today) or Chepstow Races. Chepstow definitely had an influx of Waxwing in the last couple of years (but then so did Cheltenham).

So eeny, meeny etc – I will go with Chepstow (is this a prelude to you blogging about the Winter Beer festival this Saturday).

  2. How about RSPB The Lodge? although not sure about the Gulls.
I am sure it is not Cheltenham Race Course or is it!!

  3. Interesting absentees- no waders/ geese just one duck so not a wetland.
No woodland speciallists like tree creeper nut hatch nor a garden as watched as yours no house martin, coal tit ,bullfinch. A site you visit often- supermarket ( would you keep a list) decent shout for waxwing-or how about train station waiting for train ??–

  4. How about Wellingborough station? I know you’ve seen Red Kite there, but Grey Wagtail might be push.

  5. Certainly not a farmland visit.
Out of order.Surprised that this blog has not given Big Farmland Bird Count the benefit of saying how farmers are hopefully changing things.
2,000 farmers lots of them going on courses to learn identifying birds then doing a count on their farms, well done RSPB for helping and backing this and however cynical some critics are it is a very good start and there is every chance of more getting interested.
Unless there are ways of getting farmers interested in birds then farmland bird s will not improve.
Chris,by the way the only two not seen on nearest farm would be Waxwing and Red Kite but those two would be more than replaced by some on the farm but not on Mark’s list.
It was a cheap jibe that makes farmers think why should they bother about improving things.

  6. I would say a City Park. London is likely. As Chris above I originally opted for Regents Park.

  7. A racecourse in a rural area, (though I assume most are!). Reason, the presence of skylark and swallow but absence of most common wetland birds.
